The Consular Section of the Embassy is open from Monday to Friday except public holidays (please check for listed holidays here) in the morning from 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs. Telephone enquiries will be entertained between 1600 hrs to 1700 hrs only. With effect from 1st Nov 2007 applications for business (BV), tourist (TV) and family visa (FV) from Dutch nationals and from nationals of other countries who possess Dutch Resident Permit (RP) are to be submitted through the service providers (SP) as mentioned above. Applications for other types of visas are to be submitted directly to the Embassy. The service providers have been authorized to levy a service charge (processing fee) of Euro 15 per application in addition to the visa fee and other charges levied by the Embassy which are collected by the service providers on behalf of the Embassy.  Postal charges for forwarding the passport to the applicant at his address are separately chargeable by the service provider.

Procedure for issue of various types of Visas:

Following are the requirements common for all type of visas unless specified otherwise:

 1.       Filled Application form for TV, BV and FV are to be submitted to the SP. We advise submission of application in person so that clarifications if any can be taken on the spot by the service provider. Under no circumstances should cash be sent by post. In case personal appearance is not possible at the time of making an application for visa, then application with passport and Bank Draft/proof of transfer of money from ABN Amro, ING or Rabobank could be sent through post to the SP. But applications that are directly submitted to the embassy (i.e. by other than Dutch nationals or for visas other than TV, BV or FV by Dutch nationals) should be paid for in cash at the embassy counter only;  Such applicants who apply directly to the Embassy shall apply in person.

 2.      Two passport size photographs (One to be pasted and another to be stapled on the application form).

 3.       Passport – should be valid for at least six months.

 4.         For applications directly made to the embassy, in the cases noted above, applicants are required to collect the visas in person.  Applications for visa at the Embassy shall be made only between 1000 hrs and 1200 hrs on working days.

 5.         US nationals are required to pay additional fee of Euro 25 /- and apply directly to the embassy. As already stated, nationals of other countries who do not possess Dutch Resident Permit shall apply in person to the embassy.

 6.         Nationals of other countries holding Dutch resident permit Card are required to submit to the SP copy of the Residence Permit Card along with the passport. Original Residence Permit should also be shown.

 7.         For Foreign Passport holders and those Dutch nationals/travel document holders of Sri Lanka, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh origin, extra processing fee of Euro 30 will be charged. Additional form has to be filled in and it may take at least 7 working days for issue of visa.

 8.         Applicants for visa applying through the SP may be called for interview at the discretion of the embassy, and they shall be informed of the same by the SP

 9.         Visa applicants while visiting India should abide by the law of the land and refrain from contracting Muttah marriage and also should not indulge in any kind of  unlawful activity.

 10.       All inquiries with respect to applications through the SP should be addressed to the SP. Inquires regarding applications made directly to the embassy can be made to the consular wing only between 1600 and 1700 hrs. 

11.       The requirement mentioned for various categories of visas in this section are only indicative and not exhaustive; In addition to requirements given here the Consular/Visa Section can ask for any additional information/document proof/requirement for consideration of the visa application.

 Note:

 i)         Visa will be valid from date of issue.

ii)        Time taken: Same day under normal circumstances. Visas can be collected on the day specified by the Consular Section or by the SP as the case may be between 1530 hrs to 1630 hrs. For collection of passport the cash receipt must be produced.

iii)       Application form for visa can be picked up from the Embassy, downloaded from the Embassy website.

iv)        Nationals of the following countries will be issued visa free of cost:    a) Afghanistan (b) Bangladesh  c) Jamaica d) Maldives e) Mongolia f) Mauritius g) Poland h) Slovak Republic i) South Africa and j) Uruguay.

v)         A service charge of € 50  is charged from Russian and Romanian nationals respectively. No other fee will be charged.

vi)        A fee of € 43 is charged from all nationals for express/emergency visa.

vii)        Pakistan nationals will be charged € 2 for an Indian visa.

viii)       Sri Lankan nationals will be charged € 4 and € 7 for Single-entry & Double-entry visas respectively.

ix)        Diplomatic & Official passport holders accompanied with appropriate Note Verbale (NVs) are exempted from payment of visa fee except for holders of US official passports on non-official travel who will be charged visa application fee of € 25.

x)         When an Indian visa affixed on old passport is transferred to a new one, a service fee of    € 6 is charged.

Tourist visa

 A Tourist Visa is given to those visiting India for purposes related to tourism, recreation, sight seeing and to meet friends/relatives. TV valid upto 6 months is issued. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue.

 Fee for Tourist Visa (3/6 months validity only)     € 50

Those applicants, who wish to apply Tourist Visa within a month of expiry of earlier Tourist Visa, may please note that the processing time of such applications may take at least four weeks from the date of receipt of application at the Embassy.

 For applicants holding Dutch passports

 For applicants holding other than Dutch Passports

 For applicants holding Dutch Refugee Travel document:

 Requirements

3 filled in application form

3 passport size photographs showing full frontal foreview of 3.5 x 3.5 cms size

Copy of Dutch Refugee Travel document

Proof of financial status/latest bank statement

Time taken       

 Up to 3 months or more from the date of submission of forms and a fee of Euro 30 will be charged as extra processing fee

Media related professionals, Journalists and Police or Armed forces personnel traveling to India on TV

Apart from the above respective requirements the applicant will also need to submit any of the below, as the case may be:

1.         Letter from the employer stating the purpose of travel.

2.        An undertaking stating that the applicant will not do any media or media-related work during his/ her stay in India.

3.         Applicants working with Police or Armed forces, traveling to India for tourism purposes are required to provide a signed declaration from their employer, confirming that the purpose of their visit to India is purely for tourism and that they will not be in any way engaging in their professional activities during their stay in India.

 Pl Note:

 1.        For Foreign Passport holders and those Dutch nationals/travel document holders of Sri Lanka, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh origin, extra processing fee of Euro 30 will be charged. Additional form has to be filled in and it may take at least 7 working days for issue of visa. In case of Dutch travel document holders processing time to issue of visa may take up to 3 months or more from the date of submission of forms.

2.          While the requirements for TV have been detailed to the extent possible, the visa officials may ask for any additional information/document/requirement as the case may be for taking up the application for consideration.

 Business visa

 A Business Visa is given to those who are doing business in India such as making sales or establishing business on behalf of a company outside of India. Business visas may be valid upto six months/one year or more with multiple entries. However, the period of stay in India (for each visit) under this category is limited to six months only. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue. Those who are applying to work for an Indian company should apply for an Employment Visa. However, Applicants are advised to read FAQs in respect of Business Visa and Employment visa given in our website before applying.

 Requirements

 a) A letter of guarantee from company registered in the Netherlands in which the applicant is employed, stating clearly the reason for the visit to India. Omnibus expressions like ‘business visit’, ‘meeting’ etc should not be used. This letter is required even if the applicant is hoding senior position like the CEO of the company. In case of consultants or individuals not working for any registered company or entrepreneurs, evidence of business dealing with Indian companies or businessmen must be provided. In case there is no past dealing with Indian companies, then proof of past business dealing with any other country and a letter of introduction from a reputed Dutch company, or Government department or Chamber of Commerce may be given.

 b) Invitation letters from registered Indian companies, private or public, located in India clearly stating the purpose of the visit of the visa applicant.

c) Copies of registration/license of both Dutch and Indian companies referred to be provided.

d) In case foreigners holding positions like Directors/Managing Directors etc in Indian companies, the copy of DIN number allotted by Indian authorities to be provided.

e) Financial status/latest bank statement of the applicant.

€ 247    (2 years validity).

For applicants holding other than Dutch Passports

Requirements

 One duly filled in application form alongwith additional Telex Form

 Two passport size photographs showing full frontal fore-view of 3.5 x 3.5 cms size

 Valid Resident Permit for stay in the Netherlands

Proof of financial status/latest bank statement

Student visa

Student visas are given to bona fide students to pursue regular studies at recognized institutions in India. The visa is usually multiple entry and Valid for the period of study as approved by the educational institution in India.  Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue.

Requirements

Letter of admission from recognized school/college/ university/educational institution in India.

Copy of respective educational institution’s recognition by competent Indian authority

Proof of financial support.

Letter from the school/college/university/educational institution in the Netherlands as the case may be.

 Visa Fee:     € 93 for three months to five years validity.

 Internship visas

 Requirements

 Letter of admission/acceptance for internship purposes from the School/ University giving details of internship along with copy of recognition certificate of the concerned institution.

Proof of financial support/latest bank statement.

Letter from Dutch educational institution where the applicant is a student clearly bringing out whether the proposed internship is part of applicant’s educational curriculum; duration of internship sought; recognized Indian institution’s details; and Dutch institution’s explicit approval for such internship.

Fee:   €   99     (upto 6 months validity)

          € 148      (upto 1 Year validity)

 Entry visa

 An Entry Visa is given for a specific purpose or other purposes which do not fall under other categories or non-business related purposes. An Invitation letter is required from concerned organisation/authorities in India. Members of the family of a person employed in India are also eligible for Entry visa. In the latter case, documents establishing the employment of the spouse along with a copy of his/her Employment visa must be attached. Valid for six months to five years stay with multiple entry. Long term 5 years entry visa is issued to people of Indian origin only and hence appropriate documentation is required to substantiate Indian origin e.g. Old Indian Passport copy or any other document, duly legalized or Apostilled as the case may be, that can establish applicant’s Indian nationality. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue.

Proof of being ex-Indian (where applicable)

          € 148   (1 Year validity)

           € 247  (upto 5 Years validity)

Note:    For spouses of Indian or of Indian origin, legalized/Apostilled Marriage certificate is required for issue of Ex-Indian visa.

Employment visa

An Employment Visa is generally granted to those who are an employee of an Indian company. The foreign national coming to India for employment may initially be granted EV upto one year only. Further extension up to 5 years from the date of issue of visa  could be obtained from MHA/FRRO in the concerned state in India as the case may be. Requirements

Copy of an employment contract signed by both parties. Copy of recognition certificate of the Indian company; details of work experience/curriculum vitae; copy of Apostilled educational certificates.

Visa fee for EV  - Euro   99  (upto 06 months validity)

              Euro  148  (upto 1 year validity)

Conference visa

 Conference visa is generally issued to attend conferences/workshops. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue.

 Requirements

 Invitation letter from the Conference organizers in India.

Letter of introduction from the concerned Dutch company or other institution with which applicant is associated.

A copy of clearance from the competent authority in India, where applicable

Visa Fee:     € 99 (1-3 months validity)

Research visa

Research Visas are given to Research  Scholars, who wish to conduct the research work in India. Applicants are requested to obtain prior permission to conduct research project in India from the concerned authorities as and where applicable. Applicants are requested to apply at least six weeks before their date of departure to India and visas will be valid for entry into India four weeks after issue. Validity of the visa would coincide with the research period.

Requirements

Admission/Invitation in original and a photocopy letter from recognized institution/university in India along with the copy of concerned institute’s recognition certificate.  Letter of guarantee from the institution/university in the Netherlands; Latest bank statement; proof of financial support during the duration of stay in India. Other relevant documents from the university/organization proving that necessary clearance has been obtained from the competent authority in India.

 Visas for study of Yoga, Vedic culture, Indian system of music & dance etc.:

 Requirements:

1.       Admission letter from recognized institute, body etc.

2.       Proof of financial support/latest bank statement.

                   € 247       (upto 5 Years validity)

 Journalist visa

Generally provided to professional journalists and photographers for up to three months' stay in India. If you are intending to make a documentary in India or any other purposes related to the profession, kindly contact the Press and Information wing in the Embassy. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue.

Visa Fee:     € 99 for upto three months' visa; 148 Euros for period above three months

Transit visa

A transit visa is granted for the sole purpose of enabling the holder to travel through India to reach his/her ultimate destination. Change of purpose is not allowed. The visa will ordinarily be valid for a single/double journey and for entry within 15 days of date of issue. The Transit visa is valid for direct transit only for a maximum period of 3 days. For a stay in India beyond 3 days, an appropriate visa should be obtained. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue

Requirements:

Valid ticket including onward journey;  proof of financial status; latest bank statement.

Visa Fee:     € 25

Note: This visa is valid only for seventy-two hours on disembarkation at the transit point in India for onward journey.

Medical visa

A Medical visa is granted to those who intend travelling to India for medical treatment. The visa can be single/multiple entry. Please note that relevant letters/documents explaining details of the treatment, signed and stamped by the concerned recognized hospitals/doctors are required to validate the purpose of travel. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue.

Requirements:

Relevant letters signed and stamped from the hospital concerned in India along with copy of recognition of the hospital.

Visa  Fee : Euro 99 (valid upto 6 months)

Medical escort visa

A Medical Escort visa is given to those who are accompanying a patient travelling to India for a medical treatment on a medical visa. This visa can be given to a close relative/family member or a friend of the patient. Please note that relevant letters/documents explaining details of the treatment, signed and stamped by the concerned hospitals/doctors, a declaration from the patient or an immediate family member is also required confirming the escort travel along with the patient. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue.

Requirements

Relevant letters of the patient from concerned hospital in India including the hospital’s recognition certificate copy.

Declaration by the patient or an immediate family member

Visa Fee:  Euro 99 (valid upto 6 months)

Transfer of long-term visa

For transferring a long term visa from an old passport to a new passport, applicants are required to submit the old passport which holds the valid Indian Visa and the current valid passport. To transfer a long term visa, it should have a remaining validity of at least six month (180 days), on the day you submit your application.
